As identity goes at Wheelock, I feel that mine is very stifled. I am a girl with very conservative republican views, and am constantly having that be trashed by faculty, staff, as well as other students. You would think that a place that encourages identity would show respect for someone’s views that aren’t like theirs, but that is most definitely not the case. I am a white, Irish/Russian, Catholic, middle class girl whose parents are not divorced, and was able to have an awesome time growing up. At Wheelock, I am looked down upon because I had a better life than most, and I’m treated like it’s my fault that they didn’t have a life as good as I did, but it’s not. And I don’t have Wheelock there supporting me.
