Identity and issues related to identity are actually very big problems on campus. I don't understand why all the banners on campus are students that are people of color. It is very misleading. Identities of individuals are underrepresented. Key parts of identity are highlighted on this campus population. Those are gender, race, and class. Its very unsettling that the majority of the people here nearly hide the fact that others with different languages, races, classes, majors, religions, and cultures even exist. I've noticed nearly everyone who has (what should be) just a different identity from the collective trends to be separated from everyone in a defacto manner. Differences here on campus (although you may not want to believe it) are minimal. I suggest Wheelock to have another diversity talk and highlight again the importance of understanding each others identity.
