At Wheelock college, it’s a great place to be yourself and have your own identity. Friends and I have had discussions about religion, sexual orientation, etc. we are all open minded about each other’s opinions and thoughts. At Wheelock we’re able to express our own identity. We are all (well most...

As a white male on campus, I’ve felt privilege, but less privilege than others on campus. Being one of few males on campus I feel takes me out of the privilege category because its made me part of the minority. Being at a school that is prefoniately female, I feel as if the campus dynamic feels as...

I’ve talked about race before in the past, but never as much as I have to do at Wheelock. It is an important topic, but I believe Wheelock stresses about it so much that they make it an issue. I grew up and went to a high school that was very divers in race. No one ever had an issue about it. At...

I feel that I am constantly questioning aspects of my identity and what they mean to me. While it helps me understand my identity better, it also confuses me and is isolating especially from the people and things that mean the most to me. My own experiences and personality have combined to create...

Coming to Wheelock has definitely opened my eyes to issues in the world revolving around identity and spefically race. Growing up in the 2nd least divers high school in Massachusetts and meeting my first African American friend in college I was not exposed to anything outside of white suburbia....
