This has been a powerful year full of learning experiences. Identity was a topic since day one of my first year. I am a very accepting person, so I never realized how many issues there were. Different faculty members and students have had many conversations about identity, specifically race and...

As a student on this campus I feel as if my identity is shaped a certain way being a male at a school with many girls. I feel like my identity is seen as being “one of the few guys” at this school. The school has a reputation for having many females, which is true, however I feel like being a guy...

As I grew up from middle school to high school I have struggled with my identity. “You dress nice for a black girl.” “You’re and oreo.” “You speak well for a black chick.” “Don’t act so white, you’re black.” I’ve constantly been surrounded and at times suffocated by the African-american stereotype...

Coming to Boston was a culture shock of sorts. Coming from a town that was almost completely white, racial minorities were few and far in between in a really tiny town in the middle of Maine. No one wanted to talk about race, because for the majority of the white population, it wasn’t a thought...

Identity   Tiny. My voice is small and fragile. I am afraid.             Really afraid.   The fear of discrimination and judgment.             Eyes glaring like sharpened...

I am tired of people pushing racial issues in a school that is always trying to please everyone. I don't want to have a part of myself pushed down and ignored. I am forced to “be black” when I am also half white. I am sick of people questioning why I act white. Why not?! I grep up with white people...

I feel discriminated against because I am white. I also feel that I am singled out for having money and being moderately attractive. This school caters to one type of person and makes it extremely difficult to fit in anywhere if you aren't that type of person. All my classes are biased towards...

This school is fucked. I feel like I stand out for being a white female. My professors teach in a bias way that makes me feel like I cant form my own opinions. Also, I feel that I am being forced to believe in liberal opinions when that's not what college should be about. You guys tampering with my...
